This won't be a hit

No fancy fit
Just a fit of emotions that only I wear
And I will never wear a hand-me-down

Even if my mother gave me one as a gift
I like her a lot, but I don't wanna rewrite Thrift Shop
That's not me

And the songs that I like to write are me
If the lyrics suck, then at the very least
I tried to communicate with my own method of speech
And I didn't make someone else talk for me

It sure beats me why I take so much time
To decide what I want just one rhyme to sound like
I don't need to try like with the previous line
I'll just do it or I won't, and I'll leave it at that
When I think too hard on a song
It makes me sick
I want to empathize, not make generic music
Appealing to the masses and making it big
Feel like the dream
But you'll just sink into quicksand
It'll get bad if you dig too much with your hands
You'll end up on the other side a failed industry plant
You wanted songs that everyone could relate to
But you never gave them a chance to relate to you
And the problems that you're dealing with
Now you look like you got none
So they treat you like you don't need help to solve them
People know if you got no irises
Color in the eyes
Or there's no surviving this
Green in your eyes or green in your pocket
Don't even ask a question like that
Just stop it
Maybe you could've had the fans and the fame
Now you don't even have one-hit wonder in your name
