Snake is one of the most fearful creatures in the world. As a predator, snakes take control over many animals even much bigger than their size. They are not always going to win every fight. This is the best example of when a predator becomes prey. Here is the list of Snakes Messed with the Wrong Opponent.
1. Cat protecting kittens from python
A mother cat is sitting in a small dugout in a mound of dirt with her kittens, then a snake approaches. This could end badly as kittens and even cats are not a match for any python. At first, the python and the cat just stare each other down with their mouths wide open and hissing. Next thing you know mother cat is launching an attack all while her kittens look on in fear, she pounces on the snake, bites its head, and gives the snake the marching orders. Shamefully defeated, it slithers away with nothing for dinner.
2. Snake messes with bad chicken
Creepy, slithery snakes just lo-o-ove that chicken. They love the chicks and love unhatched eggs too. This momma-hen knew that. She fought a fierce battle with a cobra to save her tweetie little chicks. The cobra slithered inside an enclosure and the hen made a brave attempt to block its path. The hen continued pecking the cobra until her chicks moved out of the enclosure safely. In another clip, a mother hen, who is not willing to give up her eggs, is caught on camera defending them from a big snake that crawled into her coop.
3. Prairie dog versus snake
Prairie dogs of the Great Plains of North America can detect predators from far away. When they do, they are not shy about letting other prairie dogs know of the impending danger. Within the complex communication system, prairie dogs bark out distinct calls to identify different predators. In a documentary of “North America” on National Geographic Channel, one brave prairie dog warns the colony and risks its life to drive a deadly rattlesnake away from its den, and away from its babies. Ladies and gentlemen, this is venomous bite vs. sharp claws and teeth.
4. Mother rat saves baby from a snake
This video was caught on camera in Naples, Italy. The footage shows a snake carrying off a baby rat, or pup, only to be attacked by the pup's mother. Some rats can be pretty ferocious. They are predators themselves and can end a number of creatures. This snake, which looks like a non-venomous species, probably wasn't big or tough enough to safely battle the momma rat. And so it gave up without too much of a fight.
5. Python versus Alligator
The American alligators are found in slow-moving swamps, ponds, and lakes in parts of South American. In Florida’s ever-evolving alligator versus python battle for the top spot, one minute you are the predator, the next minute you are prey. In this video, the alligator is the clear victor. It emerged victorious over the giant anaconda, which is capable of swallowing a whole human. The video was shot and posted to Facebook by Florida-resident Rich Kruger, who mentioned that the python was over 10-foot-long.
6. Iguana and the snake trap
Like many of the best videos from Planet Earth, this incredible footage is the result of extreme luck or hard work. The iguana, a hapless hatchling, instinctively stays still at first, hoping to elude detection. But when it becomes clear that the snake is going to strike, the iguana takes flight. But racer snakes start pouring out of cracks in the rocks and bushes along the beach and joining the chase. This unbelievable animal attack was shot in the snake island.
7. Kangaroo rat vs. kicks back
Desert kangaroo rats evade striking snakes with acrobatic jumps and high-flying kicks. Using night-vision cameras, scientists recorded the rats escaping deadly bites, all in less than 100 milliseconds. The rats use erratic jumps and kicks to the head. They also throw sand into the eyes of the snakes. In 23 attempted lunges by the snakes, only one hit a rat—but it managed to survive. This dangerous yet incredible wildlife footage should teach us that size down’t always matter. Indeed the snakes messed with the wrong animal.
8. Hedgehog vs. snake
For many people, it’s very hard to imagine a small creature like a hedgehog hunting snakes. Still, that’s a part of the reality in the wild animal kingdom. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, which means they conduct all the foraging at night. Almost all the encounters between snakes and hedgehogs take place after nightfall. Here, a hedgehog defends itself with its armor of quills. The hedgehog irritates the viper, making the snake blindly lunge towards the opponent. At some point, the snake has so many wounds that it cannot attack anymore.
