On the 22nd October, Barcelona citizens demonstrated in a peaceful protest against the imprisonment of two Catalan officials by the Spanish government, following the independence referendum.

They were charged with 'sedition', meaning inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state. In most Western countries this crime has been abolished.
