Green Noise is made from all the frequencies that the human ear can perceive in the same way that white noise is. However, within green noise the energy is not equally distributed amongst them.

There is a rolloff of both the higher and lower frequencies in green noise resulting in the middle frequencies becoming the most prominent frequencies heard in the overall sound. Therefore green noise is perceived as less harsh than white noise and the most natural sounding noise there is. So natural in fact that many consider it the “background noise of the world”. Many of the sound frequencies associated with real-world nature, like waterfalls and rivers, are used within green noise. When you think of green noise picture distant ocean surf, wind in a tunnel, or tires on a highway.

Green noise is well suited for study sessions when a focused mind is needed for long periods of time in a less noisy natural environment or when using headphones. This more natural sound created by green noise can mask distractions in our listening environments while being less noticeable than other types of soft noise. With less high and low energy in the overall sound, green noise may be perceived as the most gentle or relaxing of all the soft noise colors.

Green noise is so natural and easy to listen to that people may find success while using it even if they have had trouble using other colors of noise in the past.
We highly recommend green noise for study or sleeping but encourage you to try them all and see which one works best for you.
