Here are (presumably) all of Chris Elliott's guest-host appearances on Friday Night Videos, plus promos that preceded the shows during the half-hour breaks on Johnny and Dave.

One can see the evolution (or devolution) of Chris's acting persona here, from being himself on the first show, along with occasional portrayals of other characters first developed on Late Night; to creating a fictitious family on the second; to finally going Full Brando on the third.

1. April 17, 1987. Chris as himself, the Watercolor Painter; Marv Albert; and Paul Shaffer.* With a studio audience consisting of Late Night staffers Rick Scheckman, Barbara Gaines, Candy Carell, George Magda, and Eric Anthony, plus two others I haven't identified yet.

There are also Interviews with Orange Juice Jones, Run-D.M.C., and The Smithereens, and a walk-on by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam..

* Chris's Marv Albert was first shown on Late Night on February 6, 1986. All four of his Marv portrayals -- plus other clips related to them -- have been compiled into one upload and can be found elsewhere on this YouTube channel.

Chris's Paul Shaffer was presented on Late Night just once, on March 25, 1987, three weeks before this FNV broadcast. It likewise can be found elsewhere on this channel.

2. June 12, 1987. Chris Elliott's Family Theater Presentation, with Beth Holland as Chris's wife Beth, Philip Daniels as his son Philip, and Heather Biggs as his daughter Heather. Plus a brief mock-interview with two members of Breakfast Club.

3. February 12, 1988. Chris as Marlon Brando and another mock-interview, here with Rick Springfield.

Note: "The Chorus Line" clip from the October 15, 1986, broadcast of Late Night, and the Action Family music video, both shown on the first show, as well as all other music videos, have been edited out due to copyright caution.

The “Chorus Line” clip can be found on elsewhere on this channel under the title “More Chris Elliott Goodies on Letterman, 1985-88.”

The Action Family music video can be seen here —    • Chris Elliott's "Action Family" (1986)

The video quality ranges from ok to not as ok as I'd like. From my video collection and those acquired from Treg Tyler, Daniel Birskovich, and Laura Ryan (r.i.p.). None of the sources had full shows, but between them it was possible to piece the episodes together.
