Avoiding Non-Resident Tax on Your Estate
There is a 25% Non-Resident tax which will be held back by your executor for your non-resident beneficiaries. Probably not what you intended and your beneficiaries may really need the money as soon as possible.
There's a very simple solution: Segregated funds. You don't need a lawyer and you can continue to invest likely the same way.
A Segregated fund bypassing your estate and pays out just like insurance as a death claim. In doing so there is no need for your executor to hold back 25% for your non-resident beneficiaries.
