Tupolev Tu-4 is a completely independent metric copy of the Boeing B-29 bomber. Despite the fact that Tupolev had been developing a similar project "64" (Tu-80) since 1945, Stalin, realizing the need to modernize the aviation industry in the destroyed post-war Soviet Union, insisted on copying B-29.
