Unless you’ve been living under a rock for this past week, you’ve heard in the news that congress is trying to advance a TikTok ban. On Wednesday, March 13, the United States House of Representatives advanced a bill that would ban TikTok if the owner refuses to sell it by a vote of 352-65, where it will be soon voted on by the Senate. While I think the app as a whole has done more harm for society than good, I don’t think the app should be banned. Sure, the app may have a negative effect, but banning social media platforms in my opinion is like opening Pandora’s box, where the platform ban is going to start at TikTok, but move on to other platforms.
