Kia is set to enter the pickup truck market with the unveiling of its first model, the Tasman. Official teasers released earlier this week provide a sneak peek at this eagerly anticipated vehicle. With the teasers our friends at Kolesa were able to predict what the new truck could look like.

Distinct from Hyundai's Santa Cruz, the Tasman boasts a robust body-on-frame design, aligning with the traditional build of larger pickups.

Named after Tasmania, the Kia Tasman introduces a unique aesthetic to the brand's lineup. It features a bold front design with vertical grille bars and matching vertical headlights, which merge seamlessly into the black trim over the wheel arches. The truck's design also includes a notably flat windshield and an ascending window sill line that runs nearly parallel to the door's lower stamping.

While the rear design remains under wraps, the Tasman's front end and distinctive wheel designs hint at a fresh direction for Kia. Under the hood, the Tasman might include a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with rumors of a more powerful V6 variant to follow.

Slated for global release next year, the Tasman will be available in markets including South Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, marking Kia’s ambitious expansion into new automotive territories.
