Wild explosions, car chases, balancing acts, leaps from insane heights, and daring rescue missions – often without any safety measures.

They rose high and fell hard, the daredevils among the silent film era’s actors, stuntwomen and stuntmen as they performed spectacular and at times downright life-threatening feats of foolhardiness in the pursuit of new, sensational hits.

As part of a theme on the streaming site Stumfilm.dk, Lars-Martin Sørensen, Head of the DFI Research Unit, discusses the so-called 'sensation films', while stunt woman Anne Rasmussen provides insights into the daring stunts through a modern lens.
