The train station in Bitola was built in 1894, together with the railway from Bitola to Thessaloniki, to speed up the exchange of goods and the development of trade in this part of the Ottoman Empire. Work on the station and the railway began in 1891, and in 1894 they were completed and officially put into use. The railway connection from Thessaloniki to Bitola became an important factor in the development of the city and the region. The first railway connection in the territory of Macedonia took place in 1873 when a railway connection was established between Thessaloniki and Skopje with the “Oriental Railway”. The idea of ​​a trans-Macedonian railway line existed since the 1850s, while in January 1859 a Memorandum was signed for the construction of a railway that would connect Thessaloniki and Bitola. The construction of the railway was a difficult task due to its hilly and mountainous configuration. Only in 1931, Bitola was connected to Prilep and Skopje by a normal gauge railway.
