A handful of short, loosely-connected segments in which I babble incoherently like a manic crack addict. TL;DW: "I read a book about a thing once"

A quick disclaimer: I sorta fudged the definition of integrative complexity and conflated it with Philip Tetlock's "hedgehog-fox" scale, mostly for the sake of brevity. I actually thought about cutting all the stuff about it out entirely, because abusing this concept for the sake of some dumb point about crazy people on the internet is kind of stupid and pretentious. But that would have also meant cutting out Hitomi Tanaka, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also don't claim to use a very integratively complex style myself. My videos are heavy on prescriptive generalizations and I often deliberately avoid giving a fair shake to the people I criticize, because being a stupid jerk is funnier and more interesting. Being both truly integratively complex and even mildly entertaining at the same time is fucking impossible.

Books I cribbed from:

Expert Political Judgment by Philip Tetlock
The Signal and the Noise by Nate Silver
The Three Languages of Politics by Arnold Kling
Twilight of the Elites by Chris Hayes

I also recommend:

The Righteous Mind by Jon Haidt
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Wiser by Cass Sunstein
The Blank Slate by Steven Pinker
The Big Sort by Bill Bishop

If you like learning about causes of political extremism and ideologue-ery, you'll dig all of these. I also like Them by Jon Ronson. Not as educational, but ridiculously entertaining.
