One night, Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly), a space microbiology professor working at Princeton University, is taken away by the police and several mysterious figures, and along with her to the military academy in Lynnwood, New Jersey, are countless other top scientists in the industry. It turns out that NASA, while probing outer space, has detected an unidentified object approaching the Earth at great speed. Soon after, a glowing white object arrives over Manhattan and lands in the middle of a New York park, where the people, scientists and military surround it. A moment later, an alien (Keanu Reeves), who bears a striking resemblance to a human, and a tall robot appear before the humans. The rude humans completely waste the friendliness of the alien visitors, and what fate awaits them?
　　The film is a remake of the 1951 sci-fi film of the same name and won the 2009 Academy of Science Fiction and Horror Film Award for Best Young Actor (Jaden Smith).
