Edit of the movie Frog Dreaming (aka The Quest) set to Take Me Back by Noiseworks.

Watched this movie for the first time the other day right here on you tube. Originally released as Frog Dreaming in 1986, set in Australia, but the main role (Cody) is played by Henry Thomas. Cody is an American boy with a huge appetite for discovery and adventure, and Australia provides plenty of both. In the U.S. of course it was released as The Quest..don't even get me started.

Frog Dreamings are related to aboriginal myths, although I'm not really sure myths is the right word..legends? This movie fits pretty well into the Kids on Bikes sub genre, although it mostly centers around 2 kids, not a group. Henry Thomas really is one of the unsung 80's kids on bikes with this movie, E.T., and Cloak and Dagger on his credits. He also had a small role in The Midnight Club (Netflix 2022) which I did not notice. Would be great to see him as a guest in the final season of Stranger Things!

This is a "cute" movie, much more a family movie. I think about Stranger Things (which I love), but is pretty over the top with the monsters and the fate of the world hanging in the balance. This movie on the other hand is pretty simple with a fun ending.

I was really stumped on what song to use. I wanted something fun, but also something that represented Australia. I did consider Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult (not Aussie), and looked through the catalogues of INXS, AC/DC, Midnight Oil, and Men at Work. No song really grabbed me. Then I stumbled upon "Sounds of Then (This is Australia)" by GANGgajang, and finally on "Take Me Back" by Noiseworks.

Noiseworks is an Australia band that I had heard of but can't say as I actually knew their songs. I listened to a few and settled on this one. The verses don't fit all that well but the Chorus does, so that is why I chose it. One of my favourite things is to find new songs from the 80's that I can enjoy now, and this was definitely added to my playlist now.

I highly recommend checking out this fun movie if you haven't already. I only gave it a 6/10 on IMDB.com but it is still a lot of fun (just simple by today's standards).

Hope you enjoy!
