After starting development on the remake of Resident Evil 2, Capcom decided to also remake the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which came out in 1999 for the PlayStation 1. Just like with the RE2 Remake, the developers used the RE Engine. A year after the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake, the Resident Evil 3 remake was released in April 2020.
