In 1983, in Coimbatore, Madanagopal, a bachelor, envisions his future wife as his dream girl, captivating from head to toe. But his parents arrange his marriage with Bhagyalakshmi, from a wealthy, influential family, shocking him with her appearance in a photograph - chubby, unappealing, far from his ideal. Coerced by familial obligations, he attempts to flee the wedding day, seeking refuge in enlistment as a soldier, only to be found and convinced by his parents to marry Bhagya, sacrificing his desires for familial harmony.
