I tried to combine a lot of different things to achieve this massive water simulation.
Everything was done entirely in Blender.
The water was simulated using the Flip Fluids addon.
The ripping sail was achieved with the Cloth FX addon.
The ocean effect on top of the water simulation is generated by the technique as seen in this tutorial:

Running the final simulation took 120 hours to compute and countless more hours for testing and rendering.
