"His Prehistoric Past" is a 1914 American short silent comedy film directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin. In this film, Chaplin plays a tramp character who dreams himself into a Stone Age setting.

Plot:
The tramp falls asleep on a park bench and dreams that he's a member of an early, primitive society, where he becomes an unlikely hero. In his dream, he competes for the affection of the chief's favorite wife. Through a series of comedic events and classic Chaplin slapstick, he eventually ends up as the leader of the tribe, only for a twist ending to bring him back to reality.

The film is typical of Chaplin's early work, using a combination of physical comedy and situational humor. "His Prehistoric Past" showcases Chaplin's ability to create comedy within any setting, and it plays with many of the tropes and themes that would become common in his later films.

Like most of Chaplin's early films, "His Prehistoric Past" is a short, coming in at just over 20 minutes. It's a light-hearted romp that provides an early look at Chaplin's comedic genius.
