「長編歌謡浪曲」というジャンルの代表的な一曲。三波春夫のシングル及び楽曲
「忠臣蔵」（赤穂事件）に絡んだ架空の人物である俵星玄蕃を主人公とした曲。三波は歌手になる前は浪曲師であったが、戦前に全盛期を終えた浪曲の良いところを残したいと願い、長い浪曲をコンパクトにまとめて短くし楽しんでもらおうと「長編歌謡浪曲」というジャンルを確立し、多数の作品を自ら作詞・作曲してリリースしており、「俵星玄蕃」はその代表作。歌謡曲の部分、浪曲では啖呵と名付けられているセリフの部分、浪曲の節の部分、といった構成で成り立っている。
一つのストーリーを1曲にまとめてはいるが、全てを歌いきるのに8 - 9分を要する（一般的な歌謡曲なら2曲分の長さである）ため、時間が限られるテレビ出演時などには主に浪曲部分をカットして歌うこともあった。
三波自身は迫力ある所作で演じていた。また現在でも、日本舞踊の題材として用いられることがある。2011年6月にリリースされた三波春夫のボックス入りのCDセット「終り無き歌藝の道」には、実娘の三波美夕紀がこの「俵星玄蕃」ほか9曲を振付して踊っているDVDが入っている。
三波は1964年の『第15回NHK紅白歌合戦』に出場した時にはその年を締め括る大トリとして本楽曲を歌唱した。また、1999年の『第50回NHK紅白歌合戦』に生涯最後の紅白出場を果たした際にもこの曲を歌唱した。1999年・第50回に出場した際には、当時76歳だった三波のこの時の歌唱が、60年に及ぶ歌芸の集大成とも評された。

It is a song featuring a fictional character related to "Chushingura" (Akoh incident), Tawara Seigenban.Before becoming a singer, Samba was a rokyoku artist, but he wanted to preserve the good points of Rokyoku, which ended its heyday before the war, so he established a genre called "Long Song Rokyoku" and wrote and released many works himself.It consists of the part of a popular song, the part of a line named "eating" in a nokyoku, and the part of a nokyoku section.
It takes eight to nine minutes to sing all the songs (the length of two songs for a regular pop song), so when he appeared on TV for a limited time, he mainly cut off the rokyoku part.
Mihami himself acted in a powerful way. Even today, it is sometimes used as a subject for Japanese dance.Haruo Mihami's boxed CD set, "The Endless Song Art Road," released in June 2011, contains a DVD of his daughter Miyuki Mihami choreographed and danced to nine other songs, including "Tawara Sei Genban."
When Samba participated in the 15th NHK Kohaku Utagassen in 1964, he sang this song as a big bird that ended the year. He also sang this song when he made his last appearance in the "50th NHK Kohaku Utagassen" in 1999.In 1999, when he participated in the 50th event, Samba, who was 76 years old at the time, was considered a compilation of 60 years of singing.

山内 惠介(Yamauchi Keisuke、1983年5月31日 - ）
1999年10月13日、福岡県立筑前高等学校一年生の16歳当時、初めて出場した福岡県下のカラオケ大会で、作曲家・水森英夫の目に留まりスカウトされる。これを期に約1年間、月に一回程度上京してレッスンを重ねた。
2000年7月、ビクターのプロデューサー（朝倉隆）に呼ばれテスト。「越後獅子の唄」「悲しい酒」「柔」など憧れのひばりの曲を歌いデビューが決定。2001年4月、「霧情」でデビュー。2007年4月、三井エージェンシーに移籍。
『NHK歌謡コンサート』で北川大介、竹島宏と結成したイケメン演歌歌手トリオ「イケメン3」の一人としても活動している。
2009年9月に発売した「風蓮湖」がオリコンで50週にわたってランクインするロングヒットを記録。2010年5月、歌の舞台となった風蓮湖がある北海道根室市の「味覚観光大使」に任命された。
2010年7月に「糸島ふるさと大使」に就任[2]。2013年5月「釧路空港」の発売を機に、「釧路空港宣伝特使」に任命された。
2014年1月公開の『山内惠介・THE歌謡ムービー 昭和歌謡危機一髪!』で映画初主演。
2014年3月に「恋の手本」がオリコン9位を獲得し、デビュー13年目で初のTOP10入りを果たした。
2015年、第57回日本レコード大賞で日本作曲家協会選奨を受賞。第66回NHK紅白歌合戦初出場。2020年11月には日本武道館で20周年コンサートを開催した。

He first starred in the movie Keisuke Yamauchi·THE Kayo Movie Showa Kankyoku! released in January 2014.
In March 2014, "Love Model" won 9th place in Oricon, making it to the top 10 for the first time in 13 years since its debut.
In 2015, she won the 57th Japan Record Awards and was selected by the Japan Composer's Association.He made his debut in the 66th NHK Kohaku Utagassen.In November 2020, he held his 20th anniversary concert at Nippon Budokan.
