Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, also known by the initialism YRKKH, is an Indian Hindi-language romantic family drama television series that airs on StarPlus and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. It premiered on 12 January 2009 and is the longest running Indian television soap opera.Produced by Rajan Shahi under the banner of Director's Kut Productions, it formerly starred Hina Khan, Karan Mehra, Shivangi Joshi, Mohsin Khan, Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda.Currently, it stars Samridhii Shukla and Rohit Purohit (replaced Shehzada Dhami), as fourth generation leads.

Akshara lives with Abhira. Soon Armaan and Ruhi fall for each other. Abhira is being troubled by her stalker Yuvraj who intends to marry her. Ruhi gets heartbroken after Armaan fails to reach her due to case hearings of Yuvraj and gets ready to marry his half-brother Rohit. Yuvraj forcefully tries to marry Abhira by keeping Akshara as hostage. Armaan saves her but Akshara is shot and asks him to marry Abhira to save her, and dies. The Poddars harassing Abhira post her entry in Poddar house and she struggles to continue her studies while Rohit leaves home and is presumed dead after learning about Armaan and Ruhi's affair before marriage and later starts getting jealous of Armaan and Abhira's married life. Armaan and Abhira help and support each other to overcome various challenges in their respective lives and develop a supreme bond of friendship. Soon, Armaan credits Abhira as his family.
