The 2019 Indian general election is scheduled to be held in 7 phases from 11 April 2019 to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May 2019 and on the same day the results will be declared.

Babul Supriyo (born 15 December 1970) is an Indian playback singer, live performer, television host, actor, politician,and member of Parliament from Asansol (Lok Sabha constituency) Currently, he is a Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, in the Union Council of Ministers in India. He made a career as playback singer in Hindi cinema in the mid-nineties and has sung for many films since then. He primarily sings in Hindi and Bengali. However, he has also done playback singing in 11 other languages during his musical career.

An ardent admirer of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi, Supriyo was introduced to Bharatiya Janta Party in March 2014, and he was promptly fielded by the party as their candidate for the Lok Sabha Polls 2014 from Asansol, West Bengal, where in a feisty and closely fought electoral battle against two political bigwigs, Supriyo won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for member of parliament in the Lok Sabha from Asansol in West Bengal defeating Dola Sen.He was inducted to Narendra Modi's government as the Union Minister of State, Ministry of Urban Development; and Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation on 9 November 2014.He became the youngest minister.He served in these ministries till 12 July 2016, after which his portfolio was changed to Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

Modi was named the Best Chief Minister in a 2007 nationwide survey by India Today.In March 2012, he appeared on the cover of the Asian edition of Time Magazine, one of the few Indian politicians to have done so.He was awarded Indian of the Year by CNN-IBN news network in 2014. In 2014, 2015 and 2017, he was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World.He was also declared winner of the Time magazine reader's poll for Person of the Year in 2014 and as well as in 2016.Forbes Magazine ranked him the 15th-Most-Powerful Person in the World in 2014 and the 9th-Most-Powerful Person in the World in 2015, 2016 and 2018.In 2015, Modi was ranked the 13th-Most-Influential Person in the World by Bloomberg Markets Magazine.[313] In the same year he was named one of Time's "30 Most Influential People on the Internet" as the second-most-followed politician on Twitter and Facebook.Modi was ranked fifth on Fortune Magazine's first annual list of the "World's Greatest Leaders" in 2015. In 2017, Gallup International Association (GIA) conducted a poll and ranked Modi as third top leader of the world. In 2016, a wax statue of Modi was unveiled at Madame Tussaud Wax Museum in London.

As of 2018 statistics he is the third most followed head of the state on Twitter and the topmost followed world leader on Facebook and Instagram.

In October 2018, Modi received UN's highest environmental award, the 'Champions of the Earth' for policy leadership by “pioneering work in championing” the International Solar Alliance and “new areas of levels of cooperation on environmental action”.

He was conferred the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize in recognition of his dedication to improving international cooperation, raising global economic growth, accelerating the Human Development of the people of India by fostering economic growth and furthering the development of democracy through anti-corruption and social integration efforts. He is the first Indian to win the award. In 2019, he received the first Philip Kotler Presidential Award. The awards bottom line is people, profit and planet.
