Ives Towner refuses to marry his girlfriend, Julie Weir, until he has a career. Julie then meets and grows infatuated with a handsome writer, and they marry and move to Paris. After her husband's death, Julie moves back and finds Ives, now a professor, disinterested in resuming their relationship.
