In big AI news, the New York times filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft for copyright infringement on Wednesday. This was a longtime coming with OpenAI freely taking all that they could from the internet to train their ChatGPT model.

Now, some organizations and individuals are fighting back, and with OpenAI now worth over $90B, they want to get paid and in the case of the New York Times, they what all GPTs that use their IP to be erased!

But is what OpenAI and other AI companies doing copyright infringement?
If a person can verbally recite or summarize a New York Times article without penalty, why can’t a machine?

The courts will have to decide how to handle copyright and “fair use” when it comes to AI.
