Every year, thousands of people migrate from their countries for various reasons: to flee violence, reunite with their families, or seek a more dignified life. For many of them, migrating is their last resort in the face of the situation they face in their places of origin.

On their journey, migrants face numerous risks, which are combined with the lack of access to essential services: hostile environmental conditions and the possibility of being victims of extortion, kidnappings, sexual violence or other crimes. In the most extreme case, migrants may become victims of disappearance or die en route.

We work hand in hand with our partners in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and with civil society organizations and migrant shelters to ensure they have access to essential services and information for risk prevention throughout their journey.
