Continued rising labour costs and labour availability has seen manufacturers face operational inconsistencies across the board. Since the start of the pandemic, its estimated that there are 1.1m fewer people in the labour force. In the manufacturing industry there were 97,000 vacancies in January, an increase of 113% on the year and 80% compared to two years ago (Source: The Food and Drink Federation).
