Regarding President Biden's announcement about expanding health care coverage for DACA recipients, Director of Research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington DC based research institute that examines the consequences of legal and illegal immigration in the US, Steven Camarota, joins to share how significant this new rule from the Department of Health and Human Services is and who exactly makes up DACA. This new action is expected to help about 100,000 young people who came to the US without authorization when they were children, but Camarota explains how it will benefit them. He gives us an example of how or why they wouldn't be able to get coverage through their work, Medicaid or ObamaCare. Camarota discusses who will end up paying for this. This new policy is set to take effect November 1st. That being said, Camarota fills us in on whether he thinks there could be legal challenges like ones filed in the past regarding DACA.
