Tanner McGrew had no plans to play professional ball – he was on a trombone scholarship at his hometown college 4 hours away from the nearest NBA team, after all. But through dedication to the game and a worldwide tour of playing international ball, he made it to the NBA G League. VICE Sports visited Tanner in his hometown of Buckhannon, West Virginia to see how this 5,000 person town produced one of the most unexpected underdogs of the G League.
