Refueling mid-air is also referred to as aerial refueling or air to air refueling, which is the pumping of fuel from one aircraft, the tanker, to another aircraft. The procedures require that the aircraft fly in formation. Loud and clear radio communication between pilots and boom operator is the key to success here.
