Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest was designed by Hitoshi Akamatsu, and was released for the Famicom Disk System (FDS) in 1987 in Japan. While it would later be converted to the NES the following year for North America and in 1990 for Europe. The two versions actually differ more than you would think, with the Famicom Disk version featuring a progress saving feature, whereas the NES version uses a password system. For this review, I will be looking at the NES version, and see how it holds up compared to the first Castlevania.
