The Mayon Volcano in the Philippines started erupting lava in June 2023. With the alert status escalating from Level 2 to Level 3, there was an urgent need to evacuate people within a 6 kilometers radius. Displaced residents, both in and out of evacuation centers, needed humanitarian aid. The Philippine Red Cross turned to Imminent IFRC-DREF, a modality designed to act before disasters strike.
