I hope that Wix can add "sort by size" and “replacement” or “optimize” functionality for the existing images in the Media Library so that we can all work on streamlining existing website’s storage.

Now that the storage is being enforced, I’m running into the storage limit when trying to upload new files for nearly all my clients with simple sites on the Combo plans are running into this as they were uploading full size images and quickly used up their 2GB of space.

We can streamline media libraries by deleting unused images and/or reducing the size of the used images – but this is incredibly difficult with images currently used by their sites as you don’t know if or what pages it is used on (or even what image is used if you were to go to the page and click on the image, it doesn’t tell you the filename of the current image! This is a request I’ve been asking for for years, and is standard across other platforms. Being able to click on an image and see what file is being used, as well as the ability to sort by size and file replacement is typically standard too, the Wix platform needs these abilities!)

I’ve run into this so many times in the past few weeks, it’s costing me a lot of time and headache. I am advising people to upgrade, but many purchased 2-3 years of hosting ahead of time so they don’t want to bother with an upgrade yet. And, I’d like to be able to avoid this in the future by streamlining/compressing files before uploading them to Wix now that the storage space is being enforced (who knew images were taking over 2GB these days, I forgot how big phone photos are and how fast they add up).

To optimize existing Wix media libraries, it would be much more effective for everyone if we could replace the files rather than deleting and adding new ones to have to be manually replaced wherever used (which if you have lots of pages and blog posts can be a BIG and nearly impossible job to figure out! Replacing files would be a crucial help in streamlining and reducing storage use across all sites to cut down on server space.
