Matt Baker of Useful Charts says that Matthew and Luke contradict each other when Jesus was born. The gospel of Matthew says it was when Herod was King. He died in 4 BC. The gospel of Luke says it was while Quirinius was the Governor of Syria, which was 6 AD. Did Luke not care about historical details? What's up with this apparent contradiction?
