The King of Ayodhya has three queens: Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. The king prays to the gods to bless him with a son and an heir. During a great war, Kaikeyi saves the king's life. In gratitude, the king, who gets awarded the title of 'Dasharatha', grants Kaikeyi two boons.
