https://www.myboxingcoach.com - Beyond the boxing equipment basics of hand wraps and gloves, what other options are there to enhance your boxing training and boxing skills?

In this video I am going to look at two options. The reflex ball and the resistance band.

Interestingly, I don't think that the reflex ball should be called the reflex ball, I think that it should be called the co-ordination ball.

For me, the reflex ball is about using your peripheral vision, developing your hand/eye co-ordination and ensuring that your shots are nice and straight.

Peripheral vision is vital for boxers, developing an ability to track the speed and direction of objects that are whizzing about in front of you.

This for me is the real strength of the reflex ball, or what I call the co-ordination ball...not sure my new name is going to catch on.

I also look at the resistance band. The resistance band is another piece of kit that I like as it focuses on the muscle groups that are very specific to punching.

I like to push for endurance, so high punching volume. Also, I tend to encourage the use for 1 round out of 3.

Cheers
