Muhammad: Messenger of God (English: Muhammad: Messenger of God) is an Iranian drama, religious and biographical film directed and written by Majid Majidi, released in 2015. The film is about the events that took place during the childhood of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the city of Mecca in the Arabian Peninsula in the 6th century.[3] The film was first released in Iran on February 12, 2015. It had its world premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival on August 27 and was Iran's nominee for 'Best Foreign Language Film' at the 88th Academy Awards.[4] This film, which is the highest-budget production of Iranian cinema to date,[6] was released in 350 cinemas in Turkey on October 28, 2016.
