Gewandhausorchester Leipzig
Conducted by Riccardo Chailly

Hi Travis and Suzi! Welcome to part two of my second piano concerto series. I promised you guys that you would see Lars Vogt again one day, and here he is in top form performing the piano concerto of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Grieg’s only concerto from 1868 is modeled after Schumann’s only piano concerto from 1845. Both are in A minor and both have no break between their second and third movements. As with the Schumann, we’ll start at the beginning of the beautiful second movement and go through the finale. Oh man, I think you guys are going to love this one! Here is the accompanying haiku by yours truly: “Georgie Porgie’s pie; eats pudding with girls and cries; still virgin? that’s why.” (Start at 13:08 and end at 31:40. Also, please turn up the volume as it is low on this one.)
