Can a laptop be connected 24 hours a day?

If you use a laptop to work, surf the internet or play, chances are that one of your daily habits is to connect your device to your home power. After a couple of hours of autonomy, it is natural that laptops use up their battery charge and, therefore, have to charge it again to continue operating. However, to avoid this tedious practice, many choose to continuously connect their computer so they do not have to worry about a lack of battery.

This situation, according to an expert, is the worst mistake we can make, since if we always leave the laptop connected to keep its battery at 100% for weeks or even months, we consequently reduce the initial capacity by half.

The optimal state is between 20% discharge and 80% charge.

The same thing happens with cell phones, which we use daily and which, over time, reduce the initial health of its charging unit. Therefore, as so many other experts have pointed out, the optimal state of charge is between 20% and 80%. And, for that same situation, consider that the most practical thing is to charge it completely, let it discharge and plug it in once it is at 20%.

Thus, there are several measures to conserve the battery and thus prevent its capacity from being used up immediately. As indicated by experts, you can use options such as closing background applications that consume energy, lowering the screen brightness and even keeping the laptop away from excessive heat.

Consequently, there is no way to prevent the charging capacity from gradually deteriorating and this is the reason why we must use different methods to preserve the health of the batteries as much as possible.
