Hi! Today, the restoration of the African sword of Nimcha! So far, this is the rarest item that I have managed to restore so far! The sword was delivered to me from France. This item is the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. The blade is European, they were often used to create a Moroccan one. Well, I'm starting to restore this unique sword!

The blade of the sword.
First, I dismantled part of the old leather and the silver part from the scabbard. To clean the blade from rust and dirt, I put it in a rust remover. After this process, I placed the blade in warm water with baking soda to neutralize the acid. I polished the blade manually. I used sandpaper from 80 to 360 grit. Likewise, I cleaned and leveled the fullers on the blade using a low-speed milling cutter. Then manually using a grinding stone. After these processes, I cleaned the blade with a soft iron brush and solvent. After the blade was wiped dry, oiled and finished working with the blade, further mechanical influences could damage the antique object.

The handle.
This seemingly simple handle turned out to be much more difficult than I thought. I used mild steel, a piece of pipe, beech wood and brass. It took a long time to work on the handle and I did this type of sword handle for the first time, but everything turned out fine because it was necessary. This was the most difficult handle to date.

The scabbard of the sword.
I used wood for the scabbard, as well as thin natural leather. The scabbard had to be made very thin. I did not polish the upper part of the silver sheath fittings, but leveled the metal. Additionally, I made the fittings from an old sheet of nickel silver. Modestly decorated. And, as always, I can say it was one of the most difficult projects, but I finished it as always.

Test
I told you in detail and showed you how it works in the end of my video. I hope you enjoy this sword restoration, please share this video.

Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
