Trails of Grace is a collection of 5 songs recorded in a barn with a group of like-minded individuals giving voice to connection, community and the power of song.

TRAILS OF GRACE
THERE’S A HOPE THAT MY MONEY CANNOT BUY
Affirming community where age difference is not a threat but becomes an asset.

Deep in the Sussex downs we gathered, armed with my trusty Guild guitar a selection of microphones, cameras and recording equipment. This was the day to finally capture, as best as we could, visually and sonically, these songs with a message of hope, divine provision and worshipful adoration.

The resident barn owl looked on from his perch high above on an oak beam, perhaps bemused by the arrival of movement and activity below. Sheep could be heard in the distance, the occasional tractor rolled by, but we were of one mind. Jon directed and filmed the proceedings, Matt was in charge of the sound recording, Dan was assisting all the way through. Pat took part in all the practicals: making and answering calls from those arriving, looking for where to park, welcoming, directing those to the nearby kitchen trailer and outdoor seating area; serving that important role in a way that only she can to ensure the smooth running of the day. As time progressed, we knew something special was emerging. The arrival of Marc (@marcjamesjamos) on lap steel and Natasha on violin added so much to the proceedings and songs. Singers, joined us, gathered in a circle raising their voices to sing and proclaim as one There’s A Hope That My Money Cannot Buy. A sweet sound filled the air. Acoustic, participative and I hope honest and real; this is my music; this is my sound. A sound that comes from a place of where I want to be. Where age or background doesn’t matter and the focus is on the One who does.

Between takes there was laughter, conversations, impromptu music heard. It was a beautiful day in more ways than one. Some were meeting for the first time; some were firm friends already, but these fragments of moments like small brushstrokes were becoming part of a larger painting
