Over two years in the making, a 9-minute #timelapse that covers 26 months of #construction of a 13-story senior living building as it emerges within central San Francisco. Starts on February 6, 2020 and ends on April 2, 2022.

The speed of the time-lapse varies in some portions. It is faster in the latter portions when most of the construction work is inside and the only work visible outside is the "fins" around the edges of the building and the street-level façade. It slows down a bit for the tower cranes going up and coming down, and for the famous "orange day" when wildfire smoke combined with fog to block the sun and turn the sky orange all day. Most, but not all, Sundays are omitted. Most, but not all, Saturdays are included.

Camera changes over the years are occasionally noticeable. In particular at the beginning you'll notice that I complete misjudged where the camera should be pointing as the tower crane went much higher than I anticipated and thus I had to repoint the camera a few times. Also the camera position and angle changes slightly over the years. I attempted to compensate for such changes, but couldn't completely eliminate their effects.

About two hours of video out of the middle of each of 668 days (when the sun is approximately at the same position) is sped up and all blended together. Some stabilization was done, adjustments were made for "keystoning" caused by the camera angle, and software was used to reduce the flicker somewhat, but of course with something like this there is always going to be flicker.

This is a fairly fast-paced video, so you'll probably see some pixelation when watching on YouTube, especially at lower resolutions and/or when lots of clouds flow by -- not much I can do about that.

As an alternative to the construction, you can also watch the cars come and go at the dealership next door (except for the second half of 2021 where there seems to be no inventory at all for some reason), lol.

If you're interested in watching this construction in more depth, I invite you to watch the over 100 videos on this channel that comprise the "Ⓢ Series". There are weekly time-lapses, as well as various other close-up and time-lapse videos covering all those months in more detail. If you binge-watch, be sure to take a break every now and then!
