House Blackfyre, the cadet branch of House Targaryen created by Daemon Blackfyre one of the legitimised bastards of King Aegon iv is as important in the years after the dance of the dragons as House Targaryen themselves. The black dragon rose up against the iron throne multiple times. The First Blackfyre rebellion tore the realm apart, ending with the death of Daemon Blackfyre on the red grass field. The second Blackfyre Rebellion also plays a huge role in the Dunk and Egg stories involving the likes of ser duncan the tall, King Aegon V and Bloodraven. The Black Dragon would plague Westeros even into the events just before the main books start and they may even play a role in the events to come in the winds of winter.
