=Start of Battle=
- Libra isn't necessary for this fight with this setup. I suppose I just casted it here out of habit. Raines is susceptible to all Debuffs that are available at this point of the game and has no elemental, physical, and magic weakness or resistance.
- The most effective strategy against Raines involves Staggering him before his HP hits 60% since it's at this point when he uses Metamorphosis and constantly casts Seraphic Ray which resets buffs and debuffs on the field on top of damage. When he's Staggered, he can be Launched and kept in the air to fully prevent him from shifting to his more dangerous Phase 2 attack pattern.
- That said, the most important debuff that should be applied is Imperil which makes Raines weak to all elements, thereby making Chain building that much quicker.
-Deprotect, Deshell and Poison can be ignored until Raines is near the Stagger point. It's okay if they get applied, but there's a risk that Raines might be brought down to 60% HP before you could Stagger him. It's why having low stats in this particular battle would actually be an advantage.

=Notes=
- During Offensive Shift, always keep Snow at Sentinel. Then at Recovery and Defensive Shifts, use this time to go all out and raise the Chain. Keep Imperil up as much as possible.
- Raines' only AoE attack that could potentially damage Lightning and Vanille is Ruinga, so equipping them with Magic Resist accessories is recommended. As for Snow, both Physical and Magic Resist will be useful to him since Raines employs lots of physical strings and Ruin strings. Paladin (Improved Guard) is recommended over Umbra (Improved Ward) since Ruinga isn't that commonly used, so boosting Snow's own defense is more important than boosting the whole party's defense.
- An alternate team setup to achieve this without using Odin would be Sazh/Vanille/Snow or Vanille/Sazh/Snow depending whether you want control over buffs or debuffs. There are videos here on YT with tips on how to use this team.
- I chose Lightning for this battle since I found that using Zantetsuken ended the battle faster than using Sazh's buffs. Additionally, Lightning is a much faster spell caster which made Staggering Raines much quicker. With Sazh, the battle takes almost a minute longer.
- To guarantee the install kill, I had the Chain Gauge raised by at least 700% and Raines' green HP bar land just under the "E" on the word "Target" (25% HP).

(Odin's Str)(3)(Chain)^2
(407)(3)(7.00)^2 = ~60,000
Raines' HP = 226,800
60,000 / 226,800 = ~26% HP
