This lesson discusses the Poisson distribution and calculating the 99% confidence limits in Microsoft Excel.
An example of Poisson distributed values is the number of defects per unit, such as a die-cast component.
A typical application example for this case is the control limits of a quality control chart.

In our example, an average of 8 defects were found in a sample.
The 99% confidence limit is to be calculated on this basis.
