The access road to West Bragg Creek Kananaskis Provincial Recreation Area will be closed from Monday, May 15 through Thursday, May 18. During that time, the entrance to Kananaskis serves as the PRA parking lot. There is only room for about 18 cars, but so far, I’ve always found a place. When the road is open, they provide parking for about 80 cars. Considering the parking lot will accommodate 485 cars, that’s not very many. Good thing they’ll open the Elbow Falls winter gate on Monday and we’ll have access to the entire Elbow Valley.
There is some serious excavation at the east end of the parking lot. They’re digging down about 5 feet, three of that is rock. The piles of chipped waste wood are still there.
