In the grand scheme of the history of Westeros House Thorne play a minor role with much of there history not documented. But the role they do play is still very interesting specifically the Kingsguard knight Ser Rickard Throne whom was active during the Targaryen Civil War known as the dance of the dragons and Ser Alliser Thorne whom fought for House Targaryen during Robert's Rebellion joining The Night's Watch afterward playing a role in the main books specifically during Jon Snow and other Nights Watch based characters.
